At Image Domain, we treat a variety of scars, including those caused by acne, injury, or surgery. Our treatments are tailored to address different scar types, such as atrophic (depressed), hypertrophic (raised), and keloid scars.

Subcision is a minimally invasive procedure that releases tethered scar tissue beneath the skin. This helps to smooth the skin’s surface, reducing the appearance of depressed scars and improving overall skin texture. 

Yes, chemical peels exfoliate the skin’s outer layers, removing damaged skin cells and revealing fresher, smoother skin. They can significantly reduce the visibility of scars, improve skin tone, and enhance overall skin clarity. 

Hypertrophic and keloid scars are treated with corticosteroid injections, which reduce inflammation and flatten the scar tissue. This helps to soften the appearance of raised scars and can be combined with other scar management techniques for optimal results. 

Results vary depending on the treatment and individual skin response. Some treatments, like chemical peels, may show improvements within a few days, while others may take several weeks to months for full results as collagen production increases 

Most treatments have minimal downtime. You may experience mild redness or swelling after procedures like microneedling or laser therapy, but these typically subside within a few days. Dr Ryan will provide specific aftercare instructions to ensure optimal healing and results.

Aftercare depends on the specific treatment, and Dr Ryan will give you tailored instructions. In general, after microneedling, chemical peels the skin may feel warm, look red or flushed and feel slightly tight or sensitive for a few days; some flaking or peeling can follow a peel. Keep the skin clean using a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser and a hydrating moisturiser, and avoid touching or picking at the skin or any peeling. Don't use active ingredients such as retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, vitamin C or exfoliants for around 5-7 days, and avoid make-up for the rest of the day (longer after a peel). Apply SPF 30+ daily and avoid direct sun, saunas, steam rooms, hot showers, swimming and strenuous exercise for 24-72 hours. Stay well hydrated and avoid harsh products until the skin has fully recovered. If corticosteroid injections were used for raised scars, avoid pressure on the area.
